Speaker: June Myles

June is a talented rug hooker and author who will present “A Personal Odyssey in Rug Hooking:  The Percolation and Expression of Ideas.”  A trained physicist, she also spent a year in Europe and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris.  Today, she still has one foot in the sciences and the other in the arts.  June has been a rug hooker for 20 years and just completed her first book, If Wool Could Talk—Hooked Rugs, A Memoir, which she will sell and sign at our show. Workshop: Trish Becker

Join the fun and have a PURR-fectly fine time with TRISH BECKER and be introduced to the world of WIDE-CUT ANIMALS.  You will work on FOLK ART CAT©2008, designed especially for this class.  Work in #9 cut and hook an animal with personality and eyes that truly engage the viewer.  Workshop is limited to 15 experienced students, advance registration required, cost is $55 per person, including pattern.  Bring your own #9 cut wool or purchase from the instructor on show day. The 2008 Newtown Hooked Rug Show will be presented in the cafetorium of the Reed Intermediate School--where everything will be in one convenient location.  Rug displays,  vendors, speaker, workshop and lunch will be under one roof, with plenty of on-site free parking for vendors and shoppers.

 

As always, we invite you to display your work and, again this year, we have two categories available:  Juried and Non-Juried
